Excellent
I played the Montgomerie Course on the 1st of February early in the morning. We decided to play an early morning round so that we could go to the neighbour course The Emirates Golf Club to watch the final round of the Dubai Desert Classic.
We arrived at the Montgomerie clubhouse at 06:15 when it was still dark, the welcome was grant and pleasant, the staff in reception were cheery and full of energy. After checking in we were escorted to the driving range while it was still dark. The warm up on the huge floodlit driving range was one of the most extraordinary experiences I have ever had on a driving range, I wish I could post a picture here for you all to see. The range is beautifully decorated with the tall buildings of Dubai Marina making up the background, while we were warming up the sun gently rose and warmed up the tall buildings “at the back” of the range.
It was now 06:55 and time for us to meet our playing partners for the day at the first tee.
The course was in great condition, greens were true and fast , fairways were soft and short cut. This is the type of golf course that will challenge players at all levels. Playing of a handicap of 0, I still found it challenging from the back tees even though I had a great day of play and shot a score of 70 I really had to keep them straight of the tee.
Moving up a few tees will ensure players of hcps. 10-20 to also have a great day on this lovely golf course.
All in all I was very happy with the experience.
