Punta Espada Golf Course (2006) was the first Jack Nicklaus design in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
The course is part of the large Cap Cana Resort, which will eventually include hotels, vacation appartments, a marina and three golf courses, and planned to end up as a small society community.
The fairways at Punta Espada Golf Course is flanked by palm trees and large waste areas, if you are not playing the 8 holes which runs along the sea.
Green fee price are at the high end, but Punta Espada Golf Course, in return, is recognized as one of the best Caribbean golf courses. In fact, the Punta Espada Golf Course was voted as the best golf course in Carribien and Mexico by GolfWeek. The green fee price includes rental of buggy, use of driving range plus you will be joined by a caddy.
The fairways are made from the special grass variety Paspalum grass, which both tolerates salt water, the sometimes extreme heat and at the same time appears green and beautiful year round.
The course has been used by the PGA Tour's Champions Tour with Fred Couples as a popular winner in 2010.
